Can I use footnotes with MLA?

Answer

If you are supposed to use MLA as your referencing style, then your citations should be in-text or in-line.  That means NOT in footnotes.  See the library guide on MLA:  http://research.uwcsea.edu.sg/mla

Footnotes are appropriate for other purposes, e.g., defining terms or explaining acronyms.  But they should be used sparingly.
