Can I make an audiobook listening post using EPIC?

I don't want the children to be able to use eBooks or Read Along books.

Answer

Make an extra student in each class called Audiobooks and the last name of the teacher's initials. This will become a generic user, but you could use this method with the child's own login. However, this will be more time consuming.

Make a collection of audiobooks or contact the library to make one for you. Assign that collection to the generic student.

Set-up the ipad by making sure that the rotation is locked and guided access is on (Settings - General - Accessibility - Guided Access)

Login to Epic as a student - you can use your classroom code

Find the generic student and go to their mailbox and open the collection that you have shared

Triple click the home button on the ipad to activate guided access and make sure that TOUCH is green and then draw a square with your finger that blocks out all the controls on the left of the screen. Click resume.

Students should be able to access the audiobooks in the collection and should find it very difficult to access any other content

Students can listen together using an audio splitter or they can use individual ipads to access the same or different texts
