How do I print from an iPad or an iPhone?

Ad hoc:

For ad hoc printing, ie students who want to print from their own iPad, as and when necessary, they will need to use the AWMS Mobile App

The first time they use this they will need to sign in to authorise the app, they just need to use their school username (not the whole email address) eg mchug456795, password, and the server address which is awmsmobile.uwcsea.edu.sg, make they tick 'remember me' unless they want to type all of this every time...

Now they can just choose anything from their camera roll to print, to print a Google Doc, it's easier to print from the doc rather than from the app.

  1. Open the Doc (or any other file to print, eg a PDF)
  2. 3 dots ...
  3. Share & export
  4. Send a copy (leave the selection as PDF)
  5. OK
  6. Choose the AWMS Mobile App
  7. Choose Scan QR Code
  8. Scan the QR Code on the photocopier they want to print from.

En masse:

If the whole class needs to print, eg a published piece of writing at the end of a unit, it makes more sense to ask the students to save a copy of the file as a PDF and move it to a shared printing folder, one the teacher has shared earlier. It's a good idea if the students star this folder so it's easy to find. To do this the process is the same as above with a slight difference at the end:
  1. Open the Doc (or any other file to print, eg a PDF)
  2. 3 dots ...
  3. Share & export
  4. Send a copy (leave the selection as PDF)
  5. OK

  6. Choose the Google Drive App
  7. Save a copy into the Drive
  8. Now in the app find the PDF, 3 dots, and move the file to the shared folder.
Now the teacher or the TA can print the whole lot in one go (sync the folder to the Finder, select all the PDFs in the Finder, control click, and choose Print).
